Samsonite Black Label

How's this for traveling in style?

Making its premiere at colette Paris will be a Samsonite Black Label trunk. Created as a re-issue of 1920’s styled trunk’s, the piece is full encrusted with Crystallized Swarovski Elements. There will only be 30 pieces sold in Europe with no set retail yet, although most of us can only dream.

One Madison Park

Currently under construction: One Madison Park, developed by Slazer Enterprises.

Located at at 23 East 22nd St, the 335 ft (107 m) tall mid-rise tower ... features an innovative design when it comes to towers, an evolution of the OMA studies on new high rise designs. The building cantilevers 30 feet over its neighbor, a form that “provides a number of unexpected moments that appear at each step – balconies at the upper part of the building and floor windows at the lower part — providing a variety of unit types and features throughout the building” ...

Now, this is one building where the most interesting view might not be from the penthouse suite. How cool would it be to have the apartment jutting from the bottom corner? You'd essentially be suspended over the street! More pics here.

I am a total Magazine Addict - every month, I stalk my local Borders for the newest issues and spend hours poring over editorials and features. Well, I've just found something that could save me a lot of time and money! It's My Party and I'll Cry If I Want To

My birthday is coming up soon and I'm being difficult this year and insisting on keeping gifts to a minimum (I never thought I'd say it but I don't really need/want anything at the moment - I know, what is wrong with me?!?). But what I wouldn't mind is a CUPCAKE!

Now, I refuse to believe it but The New York Times thinks the cupcake is going the way of the donut - ie, out of fashion. The Kitchn has proffered suggestions of other tasty treats that might become the next big thing - marshmallows, brownies, caramels, pudding - but I'm a bit skeptical. In my eyes...err, tastebuds...nothing can replace a visually pleasing and delectable cupcake.

I Heart Howard Tangye

Howard Tangye is an Australian-born artist who studied drawing at St Martins School of Art in London and Parsons School of Design in New York. Encouraged by his family, he developed a passion for character and movement in his illustrations and fashion designs. I love this quote from him - it's so "tortured artist":

I draw for myself and if I am not doing it physically I am mentally casting a line. It’s demanding, and not always a happy experience. It’s a bit like falling in love, but unrequited.

Here Comes Sophomore Year

I love fashion upstart Sophomore by Chrissie Miller. Basically, I'm up for anything that induces nostalgia, and the Spring 2008 collection gives me a serious case of high school flashbacks with its design philosophy of "Lower East Side style of the 70s".

When I think of high school, I think of: eating french fries during honor pass, late night soccer practice on dimly lit pitches, doodling miniature murals in my school diary, listening to my walkman as the scenery flew by on field trips, sprinting through the rain to catch my freezing air-conditioned bus, walking to my locker with my backpack slung over one shoulder, spilling body glitter in the car on the way to school dances, and writing messages in yearbooks before summer vacation.

What does "high school" mean to you?
