A New Year's Revelation
"Tonight I realized our paths may not cross again and I thought that would be OK." (An apt motto for New Year's Eve, I thought.) What are your plans for tonight?

Warm & Fuzzy
Sandra Backlund is more of an artist than a fashion designer. How amazing are her sculptural knits? (The answer? "Very.")
My work is very personal to me. I improvise and allow myself to lose control and see what happens if I do not think so much about practical things. The human body is always the starting point. I am really fascinated by all the ways you can highlight, distort, and transform the natural silhouette of the body with clothes and accessories. I build my garments by hand from a couple of basic bricks which I multiply and attach to each other in different ways to discover the shape that I want. In that sense I approach fashion more like a sculptor than a tailor.

Xmas Marks The Spot
I wonder what kind of mathematical equation Santa Clause uses to weigh up naughtiness vs. niceness. Well, I must've done something right this year because I just got the best present - a letter of offer into my top choice fashion school! Merry Christmas! xo, i.d.

Excess Baggage
I can't wait to head home for the holiday - but there's just the matter of packing. I'll be away for less than two weeks but there are so many occasions I need to plan for - Christmas Day lunch, New Year's Eve partying, a friend's wedding, and The Kooks concert (which I am so psyched about!). And then I'll need some everyday outfits for lounging around at home and catching up with people. Plus, I promised myself not to fall off the gym bandwagon so I'll need some workout clothes...Oh, and of course, I'm bringing home some gifts. *sigh* Looks like I'll need extra luggage!
P.S. That's pretty much what my thought process is like when I'm packing.
Little Bow Peep
Basically, I'm a sucker for anything with bows! (FYI, I'm also partial to sequins.)

An Interview With Lindha Sagum, Stylist
Lindha Sagum is a Swedish-born, London-based stylist and the author of the blog Alice in Wonderland, where she posts dreamy images of her sources of inspiration and behind-the-scenes footage of fashion shoots she works on.
The über talented Ms Sagum good-naturedly agreed to answer a few questions about her life as a stylist. Read on!
Where are you from?
Uddevalla, Sweden.
How did you become a stylist?I studied Fashion Marketing Merchandising in New York then interned at a couple of places and one of them was The New York Times Magazine's style department. There I assisted the Market Directors of the Men's and the Women's Departments and realized that I loved what they did, styling. From there I started working with other up and coming photographers and did some tests. And so it started by building up my portfolio together with them. They are still my best friends in this world.
Where do you find inspiration for your work?Everywhere. It's just a matter of keeping one's eyes open. Nature, art, film, people, creatures, fairytales, books and magazines. My friends.
What exactly does a stylist do on a typical photo shoot, from start to finish? This varies from team to team. But for me, usually it's about working on a concept together with the photographer. Sometimes the original idea comes from me and other times it's theirs. Then one tries to see what model fits into the concept as well as what place we need for it. After that, one basically sets a date and hires a hair and makeup artist. After the shoot, me and the photographer decide together which images we'll use.
What clients have you worked for?Cover Girl, Tiffany & Co, The New York Times, V magazine, S magazine, Paper magazine and a lot of others.
What do you think makes a good model?Presence! Being aware of one's body! Personality!
What is the one item in your wardrobe that you cannot live without? The Dress.
What is the best fashion advice you have received?Ohlalalala!!! OK, maybe this: "Express Yourself" -- Madonna.
Thank you Lindha! Make sure you keep an eye on her blog for updates on her latest work.

I Heart Moonshine
I could never leave the city, I would miss the city lights too much.
I'd Like To Thank The Academy...
Guys, I just wanted to take a short time out to say thank you for visiting my blog and taking the time to leave such lovely comments. I started Just F.A.D very hesitantly as a way to vent my creative energy and never expected to cross paths with so many cool people and become part of this wider community. Receiving your messages and reading the fabulous posts on your own blogs is honestly the highlight of my day!
Thank you especially to Ready, Set Go!, Much Love and On Dressing Up for very sweetly giving me the Proximidade Award:
This blog invests and believes in the PROXIMITY-nearness in space, time and relationships. These blogs are exceeding charming. These kind of bloggers aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in prizes or self-aggrandizement! Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers! Deliver this award to eight bloggers who must choose eight more and include this clever-written text into the body of their award.I love that it's in Spanish - I hope to become fluent one day!
The concept behind this award is that the blog creators have shown an uncanny knack for silver linings and making the best of bad situations (ie, lemonade from lemons). How cute is that? Pink lemonade is the best. :)
In the spirit of giving (it is Christmas after all), I'd like to pass on both awards to some great blogs:
- A Merry Mishap
- Brigadeiro
- C'est Si Belle
- Couture Carrie
- Daydream Lily
- July Stars
- Le Fashion
- Observation Mode
- The Scoop
- Vain & Vapid
OK, I'm beginning to blush so back to all things fashion-, art- and design-related!
xo

Kicking Back
Whoop! This weekend was made for kicking back and relaxing like this chick featured on Garance Doré. I really dig her rolled up khakis and the general vibe, which to me is reminiscent of A.P.C.
I have lots of things planned - the usual household chores, a little Christmas shopping (I need to STOP though, I get overly exuberant about gift-giving which is good for my loved ones but not so good for my bank account), fine dining with friends and some haphazard fashion projects.
What are you looking forward to this weekend?
Welcome To The Jungle
I can't wait to be a real grown-up and decorate my own apartment. I like the idea of hanging up pretty clothes and accessories as "art".

Point And Click
I'm really into photography at the moment. My dad has an awesome 35mm Nikon from the 1970s which he handed down to my brother who's at art school. A couple of weeks ago we spent a day just shooting stuff and I am obsessed now!
Incidentally, I love this pic (courtesy of the always inspiring Vain and Vapid); it reminds me of when we made pinhole cameras in the 5th grade. I had an amazing teacher who was passionate about the arts - she took us 10-year-olds to a Picasso exhibition and let us build a life-sized igloo out of paper in the middle of the classroom!
